Welcome

A working snail farm you can visit

La Coquille de Massiac raises Gros Gris snails (Helix aspersa maxima) in open-air pens in the Alagnon valley, in the north of the Cantal. Everything happens here: breeding, cooking and jarring.

The farm was founded in 1999 and taken over in September 2024 by Nicolas, the farmer who runs it today. Visitors come for a guided tour of the pens, a tasting, or simply to stock up at the farm shop.

It is also a France Passion stopover: a few peaceful pitches for motorhomes, free of charge in exchange for a small purchase at the farm.

Please note that the farm is open every day of the year, but by appointment only — it is a farm, not a shop with fixed hours. A phone call is all it takes. Nicolas speaks French.
